Post-Music

Ahmed Alwasel presents another book in his pursuit of studying Gulf music, which began in 2003 with his book "The Voice and the Meaning" followed by his two recent critical books "The Political Song in the Gulf" (2019), and "The Gulf Taboo" (2017). This book presents his most comprehensive, inquisitive, and argumentative study in his critical theses. This time he investigates the term "song", and he examines the different forms of vocal arts in different Arab cultures, and those forms' history from inception to recording until distribution in various media. The book consists of three chapters, chapter one: The Song Between the Cultural Heritage and the Musical Form. Chapter two: Two Experiences in a song - What Does the Composer Do? What Does the Singer Offer? Chapter three: Excessive Taste and The Alternative Song.
